Digital Citizenship

Common Sense Media: Digital Footprint Intro from Joaquin E. Jutt on Vimeo.

The Clear Creek Independent School District provides students opportunities to learn and demonstrate what is known as Digital Citizenship. Students at each CCISD school have created a campus-based Digital Citizenship Code, recognizing what they do in the virtual world is just as important as what they do in the real world.

The school district has partnered with Common Sense Media to assist in developing and delivering powerful and age appropriate lessons for students in all grade levels.

WHAT IS DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP?

Kids and teens today are using the immense power of digital media to explore, connect, create, and learn in ways never before imagined. With this power, young people have extraordinary opportunities, and yet they face potential pitfalls, too. Meanwhile, schools are dealing with the associated ramifications — like cyberbullying, digital cheating, and safety and security concerns. These issues underscore the need for students to learn — and for parent and educators to teach — digital literacy and citizenship skills.
